Participating Stores - Get a Sticker On Your StoreFront Window
The stickers distributed to stores are to designate it as a safe place for GNC/Trans people, or those just wishing to experiment with gender expression. Many GNC/Trans people have fears surrounding going to a store to buy clothing. The threat of being refused service, ridiculed, or even physical violence is all too real a concern for our community. Therefore, we at Flu.id.ity find it necessary to launch a sticker campaign to help people identify stores that will be safe environments for them to shop. Along with the stickers comes a large supply of post cards explaining to customers how beautiful and friendly you are.
In order for a store to obtain a sticker, they must first meet our stringent guidelines laid out to assure quality service to members of our community. There are two main areas of focus for us, employer policies, and employee attitudes. First of all, the company must demonstrate that those in decision making positions have imposed explicit prohibitions on discriminatory behaviour, and that they have an attitude of inclusiveness. All stores must undergo some form of sensitivity training, showing to them, what the GNC/trans community is, and how and why they should be respectful to it's members. Finally, after training is completed, we will disseminate and questionnaire to all employees designed to assess the effectivity of said training. If a store has gone through all this, and it's employees are ready and willing to be kind to GNC/Trans people, then they may obtain a sticker, for a nominal fee, demonstrating to all their dedication to inclusivity. Additionally, there will be a process by which customers can provide reviews about their treatment at any store with a sticker. This is a necessary process as store must maintain their positive attitude, lest the lose their gender friendly status.
We believe that once Flu.id.ity is able to demonstrate the existence and strength of the femme-male market, there will be a large demand for said stickers. It has been demonstrated many times that inclusivity and a boon for business, which we believe will be a powerful driving force for our campaign.
